The Scriptorium is my work journal; a place for show and tell.

Carson--singing as he polished the silver. (or perhaps Cheerful Charlie?) Good news can do that to you!
Were you as surprised as I was that Carson was a bit of a gossip and had no difficulty lying? Still, it was my favorite moment of Episode 2, among many.
I guess this is going to be my Violet Script from now on. You'll be seeing a lot of it; she's got the best lines--and the best delivery!
Sir Anthony Strallan to Lady Edith Crawley
Season 3 Episode 1
Are you as big a fan of Downton Abbey as I am?
Last night, I snuggled down to watch the first episode of Season 3. I laughed outloud. I cheered. I groaned. It was great!
There were so many great zingers and one liners that I decided I'd like to have some fun with them. So Icame up with the idea of sitting down first thing on Monday morning and writing out my favorite quote in calligraphy--not really composing a serious piece of work--just using what I had to hand.
If I get some more interest, I may start a Facebook page so others can post their quotes. But in the meantime, I'll post mine here on Scriptorium and on my Pinterest page.
First up is a quote from one of my favorite characters from Downton.
Violet, Dowager Countess Grantham
The Facebook Page, Downton Abbey Season 3 Calligraphic Quotes, is up and ready to go! Hopefully, more calligraphers will decide to jump in and we'll have a chance to see an amazing assortment of beautifully lettered quotes from Downton Abbey Season 3.
It has been a long, long time since I posted anything new on Scriptorium. At least it's been for a good reason; I've been busy, busy, busy. But things are starting to slow down a bit. I'm finding I have a day here and there to play while I'm waiting for my next job to come in, so I hope to start sharing some of the work I've done over the past few months. I've done hundreds and hundreds of envelopes and place cards, some wedding vows and poems, a couple of invitations, and other bits and bobs.
I did buy a new camera a few months ago but, sadly, I've been too busy to really play with it much. So many of my photos are quick snaps with my cell phone--samples or previews sent to brides for approval or such. The quality of the photos leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm really going to challenge myself to pick up the camera instead of the phone more in the future!
So, look for something new here and there over the next few weeks.
